A social media user ignited a heated debate after praising India's rapid e-commerce delivery system, claiming that no developed country offers the luxury of 'want it and have it now' as India does. Vinod, who frequently shares comparisons between India and Norway, recounted his experience of landing back in India and ordering 12 items—including mangoes, shower gel, sanitiser, toothpaste, vegetables, fruits, and milk—which were delivered to his apartment in under nine minutes.
Contrasting this with Norway, Vinod described the routine of driving to a store, sometimes in minus 10 degrees Celsius, just to get milk. 'That's normal life in one of the most “advanced” countries in the world,' he remarked. He noted that while Indians often complain about traffic, chaos, and noise, they fail to appreciate the convenience available to them until they leave and return. 'No one in the “developed” world has this. Not Norway, not anywhere I’ve been. This kind of convenience, this kind of hustle, this kind of “I want it now and I’ll have it now” - that’s India,' Vinod observed.
He concluded with a challenge: 'So to every Indian who keeps comparing us down - go drive in the snow for milk first. Then tell me we don’t have it good.'
Vinod is not the first to highlight India's fast e-commerce convenience, and the topic remains contentious. Critics argue that such speed reflects an abundance of cheap labor rather than genuine progress. One commenter wrote, 'This is good and makes me even fonder of Norway. It's important not to let ourselves fall for the convenience society where a bunch of gig workers run around to deliver our services en masse.' Another sarcastically remarked, 'Yeah Norway must suck, how can a country even survive without 100s of millions of underemployed/unemployed people who will put their lives in danger just to complete food deliveries in under 15 minutes.'
Others mocked Vinod's post, with one user saying, 'Your name is Vinod, don't act like you are Norwegian. Main goal of your post was to tell you live in Norway lol.' A third added, 'India is poor because of people like him.'
