JioHotstar Strengthens Product Leadership to Accelerate AI-Powered Streaming

JioHotstar has announced a significant strategic move to enhance its product leadership and engineering teams, with a clear focus on accelerating artificial intelligence-led product capabilities. The company is now laying the groundwork for the next phase of intelligent, personalized streaming at scale. As part of this ambitious initiative, JioHotstar has recruited senior leaders from several leading global technology firms, including Flipkart, Google, CRED, Razorpay, and Myntra.

New Leadership Team to Drive AI and Engineering Innovation

The newly appointed leaders are set to collectively strengthen the platform's discovery, engagement, monetization, and engineering systems. The key hires include:

  • Shrinivas SG – Joining as Head of Discovery & Personalization, he brings expertise in building large-scale search and discovery platforms. Previously with Flipkart, he played a pivotal role in developing GenAI-powered conversational commerce, working across search, catalog, and trends.
  • Naveen Prashanth – Tasked with strengthening consumer growth and engagement, he joins from Google, where he led YouTube Shorts, Creator and Artist Marketing in India, driving brand, performance, and monetization initiatives at scale.
  • Abhishek Sharan – On the engineering front, he joins from the Flipkart Group and has prior experience at Myntra, working on platforms spanning search, recommendations, applications, advertising systems, and trust & safety. Most recently, he served as Head of Engineering at SuperMoney.
  • Abhishek Varshney – Focused on advertising and monetization technology, he joins from CRED, where he spent nearly five years building products and capabilities across payments, ordering, and financial engineering.
  • Chandramauli Singh and Nishant Paliwal – From ShareChat and Cleartrip respectively, they will bolster the product and engineering leadership bench, bringing prior experience in building recommendation systems, scalable platform architectures, and user engagement frameworks for large-scale consumer products.

These strategic hires are expected to significantly advance JioHotstar's AI plans. Shrinivas SG's background in GenAI and search platforms will enhance personalized content discovery, while Naveen Prashanth's marketing expertise aims to boost user engagement and growth.
