Kochi: The Ernakulam rural police on Thursday arrested another individual in connection with the theft of cash and mobile phones from a mobile showroom in Vazhakulam. The suspect has been identified as Shahjahan alias Subhash, a 42-year-old resident of Rameswaram near Palluruthy. This follows the earlier arrest of Sanu Xavier, 34, from Edathala, in the same case.
Details of the Incident
According to police reports, the burglary occurred on April 10. The accused allegedly broke the lock of the showroom's shutter to gain entry. Once inside, they stole Rs 2 lakh kept in the counter drawer, along with 13 mobile phones that had been brought in for servicing. Additionally, a CCTV DVR and several mobile chargers were taken.
Legal Proceedings
Following his arrest, Shahjahan was presented before a court and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine if any other individuals were involved.
Investigation Team
The investigation team was led by Muvattupuzha DSP Abdul Muneer. Other officers involved include Vazhakulam inspector Aneesh A, sub-inspectors S N Sumitha, P S Joji, and Sajeev Kumar, along with ASIs C T Girish Kumar and P V Anoop. Senior CPO Varghese T Venatt, CPOs Umesh Kumar, Manesh K Das, and K S Amal Raj also contributed to the probe.
Authorities have urged anyone with additional information to come forward. The case highlights the ongoing efforts of the Ernakulam rural police to combat property crimes in the region.
