The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) (UG)-2026 re-examination is scheduled for June 21, and the Ludhiana district administration is leaving no stone unturned to ensure a smooth and secure conduct. A review meeting involving officials from the administration, police, transport, PSPCL, Health, and Fire departments will be held on June 19 to coordinate efforts.
Examination Centres and Security Measures
A total of 15 examination centres have been established across Ludhiana district for the re-exam. The district administration is focusing on multiple aspects to prevent any lapses. The Commissioner of Police, Ludhiana, and the Senior Superintendent of Police, Ludhiana Rural, have been requested to ensure foolproof security arrangements at the examination centres and during the transportation of confidential examination material.
Fire Safety and Power Supply
The District Fire Officer has been directed to ensure the availability of fire safety services and a prompt response to any emergency. Meanwhile, the Chief Engineer of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has been asked to guarantee uninterrupted electricity supply at all centres on the exam day.
Health and Medical Support
The Health Department will deploy medical teams equipped with first-aid kits, essential medicines, and other necessary items outside the examination centres to handle any health emergencies.
Transportation of Examination Material
The National Testing Agency (NTA), New Delhi, has requested the administration to facilitate vehicles for the secure transportation of confidential examination material from the custodian bank to the examination centres. Accordingly, the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Ludhiana, has been asked to arrange 15 vehicles to ensure the material reaches the respective centres with utmost confidentiality.
Deployment of CAPF Personnel
Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain stated that Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel will be deployed in addition to the local police force for the transportation of confidential examination material. Two armed CAPF personnel will be assigned to each examination centre. These personnel will first report to the custodian bank and then escort the trunks containing the material to the respective centres, providing an additional layer of security.
Background of the Re-Exam
The NEET-UG 2026 was originally held on May 3, but the NTA cancelled it on May 12 after evidence emerged that questions from a pre-circulated "guess paper" allegedly matched the actual exam paper, bringing disrepute to the country. The re-exam aims to restore the integrity of the examination process.
