Six Youths Booked for Filming Reels in Shivamogga Wildlife Sanctuary
Six Booked for Illegal Reels in Shivamogga Sanctuary

Shivamogga: The forest department has registered a case against six youths for unauthorised entry and filming social media reels inside the protected zones of the Settihalli Wildlife Sanctuary and surrounding areas of Puradalu Dam.

Viral Clips Trigger Action

The action was taken after several video clips, including one involving a wild boar’s dead body, went viral on social media. On reviewing the footage, forest officials confirmed that the youths violated wildlife protection laws by entering restricted habitats and disturbing the fauna for social media engagement.

As the accused are students and one of them is a minor, authorities have chosen not to disclose their identities to protect their academic and professional futures. Environmentalists and local nature lovers have appreciated the swift action taken by the department.

Strict Stance Against Violations

Speaking to STOI, DCF (Shivamogga Wildlife) Prasanna Krishna Patgar said, “We have taken a strict stance against unauthorised entry, filming, and any activities that disturb wildlife within protected zones. Creating reels or videos inside sanctuary limits is a direct violation of the law. Following the viral clips, our team successfully identified the spots and registered a case against the six individuals.”

Patgar added that the forest department is further intensifying its surveillance and patrolling across these sensitive areas to prevent such reckless behaviour in the future.
