Three Snatching Incidents in Chandigarh, Police Probe

Chandigarh: In the past 24 hours, snatchers targeted three individuals and decamped with cash and mobile phones from different parts of the city. Based on the victims' statements, police have registered cases and initiated investigations. CCTV footage from areas near the crime scenes is being scrutinized to identify the accused.

First Incident: iPhone Snatching in Sector 31

In the first incident, complainant Ridhyansh Sharma, a resident of Sector 32, stated that he was returning home from the Japanese Garden in Sector 31 when a miscreant on a motorcycle approached from behind and snatched his iPhone 16 before speeding away. He alerted the police via Dial 112, following which a team from the Sector 31 police station reached the spot, recorded his statement, and registered a case against an unidentified person.

Second Incident: Cash Snatching at Ramdarbar Vegetable Market

In another case, Baljinder Singh, a resident of Baltana in Zirakpur, alleged that two miscreants stopped him at the vegetable market ground in Ramdarbar. One of them reportedly threatened him with a knife before fleeing with Rs 5,000 in cash. The Sector 31 police have registered a case after recording his statement.

Third Incident: Mobile Snatching in Sector 46

In a third incident, Imran, a resident of Burail (Sector 45), alleged that miscreants snatched his mobile phone and fled towards the forest area in Sector 46. However, the Sector 34 police stated that the complaint is being verified as the man appeared to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of reporting the incident.

Police are continuing their investigations and have urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity immediately.
