The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has successfully implemented live, real-time face authentication technology across all examination venues in the country. This innovative step was taken to enhance the security and integrity of the examination process.
Nationwide Implementation
The face authentication was carried out at all 2,072 examination venues spread across the nation. The process utilized mobile phones to capture and verify the identity of candidates in real time. This marks a significant technological advancement in the conduct of competitive examinations in India.
Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination, which served as the first major test for this system, was held on May 24. The successful deployment of face authentication during this exam demonstrates the UPSC's commitment to leveraging technology for fair and transparent assessments.
This initiative is expected to curb impersonation and other malpractices, ensuring that only genuine candidates appear for the examinations. The use of mobile phones for authentication also reduces the need for additional hardware, making the system cost-effective and scalable.
The UPSC's move is being hailed as a progressive step towards modernizing the examination process in India. It aligns with the government's Digital India initiative, promoting the use of technology in governance and public services.
