India is currently hosting the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi, a major international event running from February 16 to February 20. This four-day summit features an extensive schedule of 500 events spread across four prominent venues in the capital city, drawing significant global attention to advancements in artificial intelligence.
Estonian President Arrives to Strengthen Bilateral Ties
Adding to the summit's diplomatic significance, Estonian President Alar Karis has arrived in New Delhi to participate in the India AI Impact Summit. As reported by news agency ANI, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Khadse, along with senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, welcomed President Karis at the airport upon his arrival.
His visit is anticipated to further enhance bilateral relations between India and Estonia, with a particular focus on areas such as digital governance and AI innovation. Estonia, known for its pioneering work in digital governance and e-residency programs, sees this as an opportunity to expand cooperation with India in AI research, policy frameworks, and digital innovation ecosystems.
Summit Highlights and Global Attendance
The India AI Impact Summit, hosted at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, has attracted an impressive lineup of over 20 heads of state and 60 ministers, alongside thousands of delegates from around the world. Key discussions at the summit are centered on critical topics including job disruption and workforce transformation, public health applications of AI, child safety in digital environments, and the growing demand for data centers and infrastructure.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasized the importance of AI benefiting "every citizen," highlighting India's ambition to develop its own technology stack and lead in responsible AI deployment. In a post on X, PM Modi stated, "Intelligence, rationality and decision-making make science and technology useful to the masses. The India AI Impact Summit also aims to see how AI can be used in the public interest."
His remarks followed the inauguration of the summit at Bharat Mandapam, where he noted that the event brings together innovators, researchers, and technology enthusiasts to showcase the potential of artificial intelligence and Indian talent.
