Anudip Drives Inclusive AI Skilling at India AI Summit

Anudip Foundation Takes Center Stage in India's Inclusive AI Skilling Dialogue

As artificial intelligence fundamentally reshapes the global future of work, critical questions regarding equitable access and social inclusion are moving to the very forefront of the conversation. In this pivotal context, the transformative work of the Anudip Foundation in providing digital skilling for marginalized communities received significant focus at the recent Pre-Summit Event for the India AI Impact Summit 2026, themed 'AI & the Future of Work'. The event was held at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.

High-Level Gathering Aligns with National AI Mission

Organized in alignment with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the high-profile gathering successfully convened senior government officials, prominent corporate leaders, key social sector organizations, and distinguished international delegates. The collective discourse powerfully positioned inclusive digital skilling as an indispensable pillar for India's ambitious, AI-led economic growth and development strategy.

Key Moments and Dignitaries at the Event

The ceremonial lamp-lighting was graced by several eminent figures, including Mohammed Y. Safirulla (IAS, Director – India AI Mission, MeitY), Anandrao V. Patil (Senior IAS, Additional Secretary – Higher Education), Yogesh Brahmankar (Innovation Director – Innovation Cell), and Ms. Monisha Banerjee, the CEO of Anudip Foundation.

Dr. Sukanta Majumder, the Minister of State for Education and DoNER, Government of India, honored the event with his virtual presence via a video message. He commended the initiative, stating, "Platforms like this create meaningful dialogue and help translate policy vision into grassroots impact."

Mohammed Y. Safirulla delivered the keynote address, where he elaborated on the seven foundational pillars of the IndiaAI Mission and previewed the upcoming IndiaAI Summit. He emphasized creating tangible impact through the People-Planet-Programme framework, articulating, "The objective, or the mantra, as we call it, is impact, how AI drives change across people, planet, and progress."

Collaborative Panel Discussions on Scalable AI Solutions

The event featured three dynamic panel discussions that deeply explored the power of strategic collaboration. These sessions brought together government bodies, major corporates—including Microsoft, Accenture, Lenovo, EXL, Oneworld Colab Pte. Ltd, iMerit, and Capgemini—and leading social organizations such as the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Tata STRIVE, NASSCOM Foundation, Kantar India Foundation, and Sattva Consulting.

The panels focused on two critical themes:

  • Reskilling trainers and youth to build resilience in the age of AI.
  • Advancing inclusive AI solutions through hyper-localized inputs for more effective and representative model training.

The discussions also included valuable perspectives from dignitaries representing international bodies like the World Bank and GIZ.

Showcasing Impact: Alumni Stories and Student Innovation

A highlight was Cup of Connections 3.0, where three inspiring Anudip alumni joined CEO Monisha Banerjee. They shared their personal transformation journeys directly with AI leaders and policymakers, serving as powerful motivation for millions of others from similar backgrounds.

Furthermore, Anudip students showcased their technical prowess through impactful AI project demonstrations, including:

  1. An AI-powered Financial Tracker and Planner.
  2. An AI-Automated Interviewer system.
  3. UltraWatch: Micro Disaster Guard.

These projects highlighted the acquisition of real-world, future-ready skills and underscored the immense, often untapped talent residing within India's underserved communities.

Anudip's Commitment to Democratizing AI

Addressing the attendees, Anudip CEO Monisha Banerjee emphasized the foundation's mission, stating, "The India AI Mission's charter is primarily to be able to democratise AI innovation, AI talent, and AI opportunity for everybody. At Anudip, we attempt to do it through dialogue, participation, and actual action to be able to bridge the divide that AI could possibly create if we do not take corrective measures right now."

This commitment is backed by substantial, measurable action. Since its inception in 2007, the Kolkata-based Anudip Foundation has empowered over 600,000 young people, including 315,000 women, from underserved communities across India by equipping them with critical digital skills.

Operating through a network of 90+ centres across 22 Indian states and with a growing presence in the USA, Anudip's efforts have catalyzed sustainable livelihoods. The foundation reports an average 240% increase in family incomes for its beneficiaries, with 7 out of every 10 graduates successfully securing employment. This sustained, scalable impact reflects Anudip's core focus on translating high-level policy dialogue and intent into concrete, on-the-ground action, thereby actively bridging the digital divide and ensuring technological advancement creates widespread opportunity, not exclusion.
