Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Friday that Google is exploring significant investments in India across artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure, server manufacturing, and drone technology. The minister made the statement in a post on social media platform X, sharing that Google is evaluating opportunities to expand its footprint in the country.
Call for Localization of Production
Speaking on the sidelines of an industry event, Vaishnaw urged global technology companies, including Google, to localize production of servers, graphics processing units (GPUs), and chips within India. He emphasized that India offers a robust ecosystem for manufacturing and innovation, supported by government policies aimed at boosting domestic production and reducing import dependence.
