Social entrepreneur Arunachalam Muruganantham, famously known as 'Padman,' claimed on Sunday that he has been listed as a nominee for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. Expressing his disbelief at first, Muruganantham stated that for the Nobel Prize, one cannot submit their own name, nor can friends or family. A third party must do so. He mentioned that a Dean from Aravind Eye Hospital in Pondicherry, along with American teams working there, submitted his name for the Nobel. The nomination was accepted within 24 hours, and he expressed immense pride in the achievement.
