PM Modi Commends India AI Impact Summit's Mission for Inclusive Technology

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday expressed strong support for the ongoing India AI Impact Summit, emphasizing that its core objective aligns perfectly with the need to make advanced technology beneficial for the broader public. In a social media post during the summit's second day, PM Modi articulated the vision behind this landmark gathering.

Prime Minister's Vision for AI and Society

"Intelligence, rationality and decision-making help make science and technology beneficial for society," PM Modi stated in his message. "This is also the goal of the India AI Impact Summit that AI is used for benefit of all." The Prime Minister further shared a profound Sanskrit verse that outlines the fundamental qualities of intellect, including attentive listening, comprehension, retention, reasoning, decision-making, and understanding of principles.

The Sanskrit verse translates to: "The desire to listen, attentive listening, comprehension, retention, reasoning, decision-making, understanding meaning and knowledge of principles – all these are qualities of the intellect and form the foundation of intelligence." This philosophical perspective underscores the summit's deeper purpose beyond mere technological advancement.

Historic Gathering in the Global South

This summit represents a significant milestone as the first global artificial intelligence conference to be hosted in the Global South. The event has drawn unprecedented participation from international leaders, including more than 20 Heads of State, over 60 ministers, and approximately 500 global AI pioneers and experts.

The gathering brings together a diverse coalition of policymakers, technology corporations, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders. Their collective mission is to transform AI discussions into concrete development outcomes through the IndiaAI Mission and the broader Digital India initiative.

Prime Minister's Active Engagement

Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to deliver his formal address on February 19, following his earlier participation in the summit's activities. After inaugurating the expansive Expo on February 16, PM Modi engaged directly with exhibitors, including numerous startups and research organizations that are showcasing innovative AI-driven solutions across various sectors.

During his Expo tour, the Prime Minister was accompanied by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and Minister of State Jitin Prasada, demonstrating the government's comprehensive involvement in promoting AI development and adoption.

Massive Exhibition and Global Participation

The India AI Impact Summit Expo spans an impressive 10 thematic arenas covering more than 70,000 square meters of exhibition space. The event features over 300 exhibition pavilions where cutting-edge AI technologies and applications are being displayed.

More than 600 startups are actively participating in the summit, presenting their innovative solutions to global challenges. Organizers anticipate the event will attract over 250,000 visitors, including international delegates from across the world who are keen to witness India's leadership in artificial intelligence development.

The summit represents a crucial platform for international collaboration on artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on ensuring that AI advancements benefit all segments of society rather than remaining concentrated among technological elites. As the discussions continue through the week, participants are working to establish frameworks and partnerships that will shape the future of AI development in India and across the Global South.
