Trivandrum Arthroscopy Course 2026 Concludes Successfully

The Trivandrum Arthroscopy Course (TAC) 2026, an international conclave dedicated to sports surgery, was successfully held in the state capital of Thiruvananthapuram. The event brought together leading orthopaedic and sports medicine specialists from India and abroad.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr Rajeev Raman, secretary of the Indian Arthroscopy Society. In his address, Dr Raman highlighted the transformative role of arthroscopy in modern sports medicine. He noted that minimally invasive techniques enable precise interventions, reduce recovery time, and help athletes return to peak performance faster. He stressed that adopting such advanced methods is essential in a country witnessing rapid growth in sporting activity.

The conclave featured prominent international faculty, including Dr Nikolai Nikolaevich Chirokov of the Ilizarov Institute in Russia and Dr Basheer Zakaria of Johns Hopkins University, among others. A preconference workshop provided hands-on training and cadaveric sessions on knee and shoulder arthroscopy, including advanced keyhole surgical techniques.

The one-day scientific programme covered a wide range of topics. It began with wrist arthroscopy procedures such as TFCC repair, ganglion cyst treatment, and ligament injury management. Extensive sessions on knee arthroscopy followed, including ACL reconstruction, graft selection, fixation techniques, management of complex ligament injuries, meniscal repair, and rehabilitation strategies. Sessions on hip arthroscopy focused on conditions like femoroacetabular impingement (FAI), labral tears, and muscle injuries in athletes. Additional discussions covered elbow and ankle arthroscopy, addressing conditions such as tennis elbow, post-traumatic stiffness, ankle instability, and impingement syndromes. A comprehensive session on shoulder arthroscopy examined instability patterns, rotator cuff tears, Bankart repair, and advanced surgical approaches for complex cases.
