Former Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Gujral, son of former Prime Minister I.K. Gujral, has fallen victim to a sophisticated cyber fraud amounting to ₹7.8 crore. The cybercriminals allegedly created a fake messaging account using Gujral's profile picture and manipulated an employee's phone contacts after infecting the device with a malicious file. Company officials, believing the messages to be genuine, processed four RTGS transfers totaling ₹7.8 crore. The fraud came to light only after Gujral's daughter verified the transactions with him. Delhi Police's cybercrime unit has frozen nearly ₹4 crore and expects further recovery as the investigation continues.
