Yaksh App Proves Crucial in Rapid Resolution of Jaunpur Robbery Case

In a significant demonstration of technology-driven law enforcement, the Uttar Pradesh Police successfully cracked a robbery case in Jaunpur within mere hours, thanks to the newly introduced Yaksh App. The swift operation led to the identification and arrest of three accused individuals, along with the recovery of stolen property, showcasing the app's potential as a transformative tool for modern policing.

Digital Integration Under DGP Rajeev Krishna's Vision

Conceptualized under the supervision of Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna, the Yaksh App is being hailed as a major technological advancement that promises to bolster smart policing across the state. Launched by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in December of last year, the application aims to seamlessly integrate digital tools into routine police investigations, moving away from traditional manual methods.

The Jaunpur robbery, which occurred on March 11, served as a real-world test for the app's capabilities. According to police reports, the incident was reported around 9 PM, and within nearly three hours, the suspects were identified and apprehended.

How the Yaksh App Accelerated the Investigation

Inspector General of Police Vaibhav Krishna, from the Varanasi range, detailed the investigative process. Immediately after the robbery was reported, police teams initiated an investigation and leveraged the Yaksh App to analyze digital leads. The app's location-based mapping system was first used to identify CCTV cameras installed in and around the crime scene.

Footage from these cameras was meticulously analyzed to trace the suspects' movements before and after the crime. Based on route analysis from the CCTV footage, investigators pinpointed three possible police station jurisdictions from where the offenders might have originated.

Utilizing the Yaksh App's comprehensive statewide database of criminals, police retrieved records of 232 individuals previously involved in robbery and snatching cases from these areas. Photographs and facial details of the suspects were then shown to the victim, who was able to identify three individuals allegedly involved in the robbery within a few hours.

From Identification to Arrest: A Seamless Process

Following the identification, police tracked down the suspects, arrested them, and sent them to jail. IG Krishna emphasized that prior to the Yaksh App, investigators relied heavily on manual records maintained at police stations to gather information on known offenders, a process that was often time-consuming and inefficient.

"With the introduction of the Yaksh App, officers can now access statewide criminal data instantly through a digital platform, significantly speeding up the investigation process," Krishna stated. He added that this case exemplifies how technology can act as a "force multiplier" in modern policing, enabling quicker resolutions and enhancing public safety.
