Haveri: In the early hours of Saturday, thieves targeted Sharada Jewellers at Chikkamshi Hosur in Hangal taluk, making off with a locker containing gold and silver articles. The burglars entered the shop by cutting through two shutters and absconded with the locker, which is estimated to hold approximately 750 grams of gold jewellery and 4 kilograms of silver articles.
Investigation Underway
Following the incident, fingerprint experts and a canine squad were deployed to the crime scene to gather evidence. Superintendent of Police Yashoda Vantagodi, along with DSPs from Shiggaon and Hangal, a CPI, and a PSI, conducted an inspection of the premises. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the shop and surrounding areas to identify the culprits, who struck the showroom around 1:30 a.m.
Recent Thefts in the Area
This theft is not an isolated incident in Hangal taluk. In the recent past, several houses and shops in Kalve, Araleshwar, and Balambid have reported similar burglaries, raising concerns among local residents and business owners. Police are investigating whether these cases are linked to the same group of thieves.
