HPU Professor Dr Ramesh Thakur Nominated to WII Society
Dr Ramesh Thakur, Associate Director of the Centre for Green Energy and Nanotechnology (C-GENT) and Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), has been nominated as a member of the Society of the Wildlife Institute of India (WII) for a three-year term. He was selected under the category of eminent academicians and scientists, recognizing his significant contributions to research, higher education, scientific innovation, green energy technologies, and sustainable development.
HPU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mahavir Singh congratulated Dr Thakur on this prestigious national recognition, calling it a matter of great pride for the university.
CUHP Professor Dr Sachin Upmanyu Also Inducted
Dr Sachin Upmanyu, Associate Professor and head of the Department of Plant Sciences at the School of Life Sciences, Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP), has also been nominated as a member of the WII Society for three years. His nomination is seen as a significant national acknowledgment of his contributions to scientific research, higher education, and sustainable development. He has been inducted under the same category of eminent academicians and scientists.
Dr Upmanyu has earned recognition for his research in mycology and plant pathology, particularly for developing eco-friendly approaches to plant disease management. His work has advanced scientific knowledge while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Academic Leadership and Research Ecosystem
As head of the Department of Plant Sciences at CUHP, Dr Upmanyu has played a key role in strengthening research programs by encouraging interdisciplinary studies, scientific innovation, and the integration of Indian traditional knowledge systems into contemporary plant science research. His academic leadership has fostered a vibrant research ecosystem and supported initiatives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
