Bhubaneswar: Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) came alive on Monday with festive cheers as it celebrated Yatri Suvidha Diwas with a special touch of the Raja festival. The airport transformed into a hub of tradition and hospitality, offering passengers a unique experience that blended travel with celebration.
BPIA authorities stated that from the moment passengers arrived at the arrival terminal, they were greeted with traditional tilak and flowers, symbolizing the warmth of Odia culture. The ambiance was further enriched with beautifully decorated swings and selfie points, allowing visitors to capture memorable moments.
Adding to the festive spirit, employees from AAI, airlines, CISF, and other agencies joined together in a stirring rendition of Vande Mataram, followed by a tree plantation drive promoting environmental conservation.
Food and Beverage outlets across the airport showcased the state's culinary heritage, serving authentic delicacies such as 'poda pitha', 'arisa pitha', 'kakara pitha', 'manda pitha', 'chhena poda', and 'rasagola'. The cultural highlight was the mesmerizing Sambalpuri folk dance performed by artists from Dhola Mahuri Kala Parishad, Balangir. Their vibrant rhythms drew passengers into the celebration, with many joining in the dance.
Meanwhile, young travelers engaged in painting and quiz competitions, while a free health check-up and blood donation camp underscored the airport's commitment to community welfare. In keeping with Raja's spirit of celebrating womanhood, women employees from ground staff, airline crew, housekeeping, and administration were given certificates and gifts.
