A tragic incident occurred in Kochi on Thursday when a 26-year-old model from Delhi drowned in a quarry pond at Pettamala, near Kuruppampady in Perumbavoor. The deceased has been identified as Divyanshu Jyoshi, who had arrived in Ernakulam for an advertisement film shoot. According to police reports, Jyoshi entered the waters around 2:30 PM while his friends were scouting for suitable locations for the shoot. He slipped and lost his balance shortly after entering the water. A friend who was filming him raised the alarm immediately.
Rescue and Aftermath
Local residents managed to recover Jyoshi from a depth of approximately 30 feet. He was rushed to the taluk hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Following an autopsy, the body was handed over to his family members.
Second Accident in Kumbalangi
In a separate incident on Friday, a 17-year-old boy named John Joyal from Alappuzha lost his life in a road accident at Kumbalangi. Joyal was riding pillion on a motorcycle when the vehicle went out of control while attempting to overtake a private bus. He fell onto the road and sustained fatal injuries. The motorcycle rider, 18-year-old Ashmal, a native of Kumbalangi, was injured in the accident and is receiving medical treatment.
