Five Drug Peddlers Arrested with Meth Worth Rs 1 Crore

Prayagraj: Five drug peddlers were arrested and over 202.31 grams of methamphetamine drugs worth Rs 1 crore were recovered from their possession near Saifabad-Muraini marg in the neighbouring Pratapgarh district late Sunday. A senior police officer told TOI that the accused were apprehended by a joint team of Aspur Devsara and Special Operations Group (SOG) while they were planning to deliver the consignment in the city. An SUV and one bike were also seized from the spot.

Details of the Arrested Accused

The arrested drug peddlers were identified as Anand Mishra (35) of Aspur Devsara, Diyanshu Dubey alias Gabbar (20) of Jaunpur, Alok Shukla (24) of Auagapur, Manjeet Mishra (21) of Lakhnipur, and Suraj Dubey alias Dipesh (22) of Singramau. They were booked under section 22C of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Police Investigation and Network

The police are working round the clock to dismantle the drug supply chain and identify the local network supporting the operation. During interrogation, investigators learned that Anand and Manjeet, along with their associates Kushu and Chotu, were allegedly involved in drug trafficking and have extensive criminal backgrounds. Police further revealed that Kushu’s elder brother, Lovey, had been arrested on multiple occasions by the Delhi and Haryana police in connection with drug peddling cases.
