A tragic incident has occurred in Rajkot, where a three-and-a-half-year-old girl succumbed to severe injuries sustained in a dog attack. The child, identified as Ashwini Pawar, was mauled by a dog at a farm in Veraval town on Monday. Police confirmed the details on Wednesday.

According to preliminary police information, Ashwini was playing at a farm in Veraval when a dog attacked her. She was immediately taken to a local hospital in Veraval for initial treatment. However, due to the severity of her injuries, she was later referred to the paediatric department of Janana Hospital in Rajkot for advanced medical care on Wednesday.

Doctors at Janana Hospital stated that Ashwini succumbed to her injuries later the same day. Her body has been shifted for forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Police investigations revealed that the family originally hails from Maharashtra and had been residing in the Veraval area for some time. They worked as agricultural labourers. Ashwini was the younger of two sisters and lived with her family in the Navapara area of Veraval city.
