Haryana Education Dept Issues Norms for Sports Infra Portal

The Department of School Education in Haryana has issued guidelines for government high and senior secondary schools to submit information on a sports infrastructure portal by July 9. The initiative aims to create a comprehensive database of existing sports facilities in state-run schools, enabling the department to assess current infrastructure and plan future improvements.

Categories of Information Required

The department has divided the data to be uploaded into two main categories: existing sports infrastructure facilities and requirements for new sports infrastructure. Schools are instructed to provide complete and accurate details under these categories within the stipulated timeframe.

An official from the Education Department stated that the exercise has been undertaken to create a database of sports infrastructure available in government schools, allowing the department to evaluate existing facilities and plan future development. A communiqué has been sent to principals and headmasters of all government high and senior secondary schools regarding the submission.

Classification of Sports Facilities

To ensure uniform reporting, available sports infrastructure has been further classified into three types: indoor, outdoor, and mixed games. Schools must provide detailed information about facilities under each category through the online portal. The department has asked school heads to ensure that the uploaded information is factual and verified.

The official added that district education officers have been instructed to closely monitor the exercise and ensure that every government high and senior secondary school completes data entry before the deadline.

Portal Access and Report Generation

Schools can access the portal using their MIS credentials. Once details are entered, the system will generate an official PDF report, which will be uploaded on the portal for departmental review and record purposes. The online database will help the department identify gaps in sports infrastructure, prioritize investments, and formulate policies to strengthen sports facilities in schools across Haryana.

“The information collected through the portal will also serve as a valuable resource for planning future sports development programmes and improving infrastructure at the grassroots level,” the official pointed out.
