Three students from Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (HAU), Hisar, have brought global laurels to the institution. One student secured a placement with an agribusiness firm in Uzbekistan, another was selected for a prestigious international student summit in Japan, and a research scholar was chosen for a fully funded dual PhD programme in Australia.
Placement in Uzbekistan
Ramandeep, a student of HAU, has been appointed as Field Operations Lead (Zonal Manager) at Indorama Agro LLC in Uzbekistan, with an annual salary of 13,000 US dollars. The university spokesperson stated that these three achievements within a short span reflect the growing international outreach in higher education, research, and employment opportunities.
Vice-Chancellor Prof BR Kamboj congratulated Ramandeep and noted that the university is continuously inviting national and international companies for campus placements. “The selection of a student in a reputed private company abroad reflects the quality of education and professional training imparted by the university and will inspire other students to explore global career opportunities,” he said.
Director of Students’ Welfare Dr Madan Lal Khichar highlighted that the placement cell plays a key role in bridging academia and industry through training programmes and career guidance. Dr SK Pahuja added that Indorama Agro LLC is a leading international company engaged in food production and exports. Associate Director of Students’ Welfare Dr Subodh Aggarwal revealed that six HAU students had interned with the company last year, strengthening ties.
Global Student Summit in Japan
Kamal, a third-year BSc (Agriculture) student at the College of Agriculture, has been selected for the 25th International Student Summit on Food, Agriculture and Environment, organized by Tokyo University of Agriculture, Japan. His participation is fully sponsored, with all expenses covered by the host university. Only 27 participants from 26 universities across 23 countries were chosen for the summit.
The VC remarked that such international platforms allow students to showcase their knowledge and research globally while enhancing the university’s profile. “International collaborations expose students to diverse cultures, ideas and innovations, helping them develop a global outlook,” he added. Kamal will present his research paper titled “Pushing boundaries: Inclusive activities for community welfare” at the summit, scheduled from June 30 to July 3, 2026, in Tokyo. He credited the university administration, teachers, and parents for his success.
Dual PhD Programme in Australia
Earlier in June 2026, PhD scholar Krishan Kanhaiya from the Department of Soil and Water Conservation Engineering was selected for a dual-degree PhD programme jointly conducted by HAU and Western Sydney University, Australia. Under the programme, he receives a full tuition fee waiver and an annual scholarship of 35,188 Australian dollars on a pro-rata basis. Upon successful completion, he will be awarded a joint PhD degree.
Kanhaiya’s research, titled “Understanding the impact of sugarcane irrigation on groundwater degradation: A field-based modelling study,” will be conducted over 18 months at Western Sydney University from June 2026 to December 2027 under the guidance of Prof Basant Maheshwari and Dr Jason Reynolds. At HAU, Principal Scientist Dr DS Bundela will supervise the research.
University officials emphasized that such international collaborations create opportunities for students and researchers to pursue higher studies, advanced research, and global employment, further strengthening the university’s academic and research profile.
