The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for isolated areas of Himachal Pradesh on May 26 and 27. Weather conditions are forecast to shift from May 28 onward, with rain, thunderstorms, and hail likely across various parts of the state.
Heatwave Warning
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, districts such as Una, Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Kangra, Shimla, Solan, and Sirmaur are expected to experience heatwave conditions over the next two days. Residents are advised to take precautions against the intense heat.
Orange Alert for Hailstorms and Gusty Winds
The Met department has also issued an orange alert for hailstorms, lightning, and gusty winds at isolated locations in districts including Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla on May 28 and 29. These conditions could lead to local disruptions.
Temperature Records
On Monday, Una recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 41.6 degrees Celsius, which is 3.1 degrees above the normal average. Among tourist destinations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 29.3 degrees Celsius, Dharamshala 34 degrees Celsius, and Manali 23.8 degrees Celsius. The lowest minimum temperatures were recorded in Kukumseri and Keylong, each at 4.6 degrees Celsius on Monday.
