The southwest monsoon is set to remain active across Himachal Pradesh for the next several days, with the State Meteorological Centre predicting persistent rainfall until June 28. In response, the weather office has issued yellow alerts for the entire state through June 26, cautioning residents and tourists about potentially hazardous conditions in multiple districts.

Yellow Alerts Issued for Four Districts on June 23

According to the official forecast, Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, and Chamba districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall at isolated places on June 23. These areas are also expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds. The weather activity is anticipated to lower maximum temperatures by 2°C to 3°C over the coming days, while minimum temperatures are predicted to stay near normal levels.

Recent Weather Patterns and Temperature Ranges

In the past 24 hours, light to moderate rainfall occurred at isolated locations, though most parts of the state remained largely dry. Both minimum and maximum temperatures stayed within the normal range. Across Himachal, minimum temperatures varied between 6°C and 26°C, while maximum temperatures ranged from 21°C to 35°C.

Recorded Extremes and Major Station Readings

Una recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state at 35.4°C. In contrast, Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district registered the lowest minimum temperature at 6.3°C. Among major stations, Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 22.8°C, Dharamsala 31°C, Manali 26°C, Solan 29.5°C, Kangra 33°C, Mandi 30.4°C, and Chamba 27.5°C.

The Meteorological Centre has advised residents and travelers in the affected districts to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, and stay away from vulnerable structures. The yellow alert indicates that while weather conditions are not extremely severe, there is potential for disruption, including waterlogging, landslides, and damage to weak structures.
