Heavy rains have been lashing Uttara Kannada district and parts of Kalyana Karnataka since Saturday evening, leading to waterlogging and flooding in low-lying residential areas. The downpour began on Saturday evening in coastal towns and continued intermittently through Sunday, according to the Deccan Herald.
Coastal Towns Hit Hard
Karwar, Bhatkal, and Honnavar have been receiving sharp showers since Saturday evening. Overnight rains left roads and low-lying residential areas flooded, disrupting normal life. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for more heavy rainfall in the region over the next 24 hours.
Impact on Daily Life
Residents reported water entering homes in low-lying areas, with some roads becoming impassable. Local authorities have been deployed to assess the situation and provide relief. No casualties have been reported so far, but officials are on high alert.
Weather Forecast
The IMD predicts continued heavy rainfall in coastal Karnataka and parts of interior Karnataka, including Kalyana Karnataka, for the next two days. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea due to rough conditions.
