Hundreds Join Anti-Drug Heritage Cycling Ride in Shimla

On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment organized the Heritage Cycling Ride in Shimla, drawing hundreds of participants. The event was flagged off by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi and saw enthusiastic involvement from school and college students, cycling enthusiasts, families, and residents across the city.

Ride Through Heritage Precincts Delivers Strong Anti-Drug Message

The cyclists rode through the heritage areas of Shimla, delivering a powerful message against drug abuse while promoting fitness, healthy living, and an active lifestyle. The ride aimed to channel youth energy towards positive activities.

Addressing the participants, Mohit Sood, Secretary of the Cycling Association Himachal Pradesh, emphasized the effort to build a cycling culture in Shimla. He said that cycling can inspire youth to focus on sports, fitness, and outdoor activities instead of drugs. "Every young person who chooses a bicycle over addiction takes a step towards making Himachal healthier and stronger," he stated.

Event Concludes with Medals and Certificates

The Heritage Cycling Ride concluded with the distribution of participation medals, certificates, T-shirts, refreshments, and lunch to all riders. The event was part of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Shapath (Drug-Free India Pledge) initiative.

The initiative underscores the government's commitment to combating drug abuse through community engagement and promoting healthy alternatives. Similar events are planned to sustain the momentum against drug addiction.
