Monsoon Covers More Districts; Heavy Rain Predicted
The Southwest Monsoon has advanced further into Himachal Pradesh, covering several districts as of Tuesday. According to the State Meteorological Centre, the monsoon has now encompassed the entire Kinnaur district, most parts of Kullu and Lahaul and Spiti, many parts of Shimla and Mandi, and some parts of Sirmaur and Kangra districts.
Conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance over the remaining parts of the state within the next two to three days, the centre stated.
Orange Alert Issued for Multiple Districts
The Meteorological Centre has predicted very heavy to heavy rainfall over many parts of the low hills, plains, and adjoining mid-hills from July 1 to July 4. Light to moderate rainfall is expected over some parts of the middle and high hills. The peak intensity is forecast for July 2 and 3.
An orange alert has been issued for Kangra, Una, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur districts on July 2, warning of very heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds at isolated places. On July 3, an orange alert applies to Shimla, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmaur, and Una districts. On July 4, orange alerts are in place for Shimla, Kangra, and Mandi districts.
Yellow Warnings Also in Effect
A yellow weather warning has been issued for Mandi, Chamba, and Sirmaur districts on July 2, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places. Additionally, a yellow alert is in effect for Kangra, Solan, Bilaspur, and Hamirpur districts on July 3, and for Kullu, Hamirpur, and Una districts on July 4.
Residents and travelers in these areas are advised to take precautions as the monsoon intensifies. The IMD continues to monitor the situation and will update warnings as necessary.
