Akashvani Kohima Marathon Marks 90 Years of Broadcasting

Dimapur: Akashvani Kohima organized the 'Akashvani Marathon' on Friday as part of nationwide celebrations marking 90 years of broadcasting in India. The marathon, which began at Old MLA Hostel junction and concluded at High School junction, was designed to promote fitness, public participation, and national unity, aligning with the vision of a healthy and active India.

Kohima Deputy Commissioner B Henok Buchem flagged off the marathon. Speaking on the occasion, Buchem noted that the event symbolized a marathon of voices, music, news, and stories that have reached millions through broadcasting over the decades. He emphasized that the occasion was not only a milestone in broadcasting history but also a celebration of unity fostered through shared narratives and songs. The DC thanked Akashvani for its decades of innovation and dedicated public service, connecting people across the country through news and programs.

A total of 180 students from six government schools participated in the marathon.
