In a move to ease commuter congestion, Bengaluru's Namma Metro will start its services earlier than usual on May 10, 2025. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced that metro trains will begin operations from 6:00 AM instead of the regular 8:00 AM on that day. This change is aimed at facilitating passengers who may need to travel early for various commitments.
Revised Timings for May 10
According to the BMRCL, the early start will apply to both the Purple Line (Kengeri to Whitefield) and the Green Line (Nagasandra to Silk Institute). The first trains will depart from terminal stations at 6:00 AM sharp. The frequency of trains will remain the same as on regular days, with a gap of about 5-10 minutes during peak hours. The last trains will operate as per the usual schedule, ending at 11:00 PM.
Why the Change?
The decision to start early on May 10 comes in response to requests from commuters and local authorities. May 10 is a Saturday, and many people have early morning plans, including those traveling to airports, railway stations, or attending events. The BMRCL expects that this adjustment will reduce the reliance on other modes of transport and help decongest roads.
Impact on Commuters
Regular metro commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly. Those who usually board trains after 8:00 AM may find earlier trains less crowded. The BMRCL has also assured that all security and ticketing counters will be operational from 5:30 AM to ensure a smooth experience.
