Bengaluru Tourist Drowns at Kodi Beach in Udupi

Udupi: A tourist from Bengaluru drowned while swimming at Kodi Beach in Udupi district on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Nikhil Kumar M, 31, a resident of Bengaluru.

Incident Details

According to police, the complainant, Rohith, 29, of Rajajinagar, Bengaluru, had traveled to Udupi with his friend Nikhil Kumar M and a group of friends on Thursday. The group checked into a homestay at Kodi Hosabengre.

On Friday morning, the group went to Kodi Beach for a swim. During the outing, Nikhil Kumar reportedly ventured too far into the sea in excitement. As the sea became rough and the water level rose, he was unable to swim back and got into distress. He drowned and was later declared dead.

Legal Proceedings

Kota police have registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNSS (Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita) and an investigation is ongoing.
