The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain and thunderstorms in Delhi starting Monday, issuing a yellow alert for the national capital. The weather change is expected to bring relief from the ongoing heat, with temperatures likely to drop by a few degrees.
IMD's Forecast for Delhi
According to the IMD, Delhi will witness cloudy skies with light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms from Monday. The yellow alert has been issued for Monday and Tuesday, urging residents to stay cautious during the inclement weather. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum may settle near 25 degrees Celsius.
Impact on Daily Life
The rain and thunderstorms may cause waterlogging in low-lying areas, leading to traffic disruptions. Commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly and avoid unnecessary exposure during the storm. The IMD also warned of strong winds accompanying the thunderstorms, which could damage vulnerable structures.
Precautionary Measures
Residents should secure loose objects on balconies and terraces to prevent them from being blown away. Farmers in the surrounding regions have been advised to postpone harvesting activities until the weather clears. The IMD will continue to monitor the situation and issue updates as necessary.
Weather in Coming Days
After the initial spell of rain, the weather is likely to remain partly cloudy with a possibility of isolated showers for the rest of the week. The mercury is expected to remain below normal, providing a pleasant break from the summer heat. However, humidity levels may rise, causing discomfort in some areas.
