The people of Dubai can now enjoy a new waterfront destination this summer, as the refurbished Al Mamzar Beach has officially reopened its gates to the public. The Dubai Municipality announced the reopening via its Twitter handle @DMunicipality, highlighting a wide array of facilities including a women-only night beach, a floating walkway, water sports, fitness zones, play areas, and dedicated bicycle and jogging paths.
First Phase of Dh500 Million Project Completed
The completion of the first phase of the Dh500 million redevelopment project by the Dubai Municipality follows the finishing of construction work on both Al Mamzar Beach and the adjacent Al Mamzar Corniche. The entire project covers an area of nearly four million square feet, transforming the coastal stretch into a modern recreational hub.
Floating Walkway: A New Attraction
One of the most striking features of the newly developed waterfront is the installation of the first-ever floating walkway in the Khor Al Mamzar area. This innovative facility allows visitors to walk above the water surface, offering scenic views of the surrounding waterscape and the iconic Dubai skyline. It is expected to become a popular spot for photography and leisurely strolls.
Emphasis on Outdoor Leisure and Fitness
The beach upgrade places a strong emphasis on outdoor leisure and fitness activities. Visitors can engage in jet skiing, kayaking, paddle boating, and flyboarding. Additionally, fitness equipment and sports facilities such as padel courts are available. Over 5.5 kilometers of walking, running, and cycling paths connect the beach, lagoon, corniche, and Al Mamzar Beach Park, encouraging an active lifestyle.
Inclusivity and Accessibility Features
Accessibility has been a key focus of the redevelopment. Facilities for People of Determination include wheelchair-friendly access, dedicated swimming chairs, and trained lifeguards equipped to assist visitors with disabilities. These features aim to ensure that everyone can enjoy the beach experience without barriers.
Part of Dubai's Coastal Development Program
Al Mamzar’s beach upgrade is part of Dubai’s broader Dh3 billion coastal development and expansion program. The plan aims to expand the city’s total beach capacity by 170 percent by 2030. Similar developments are underway in Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, and Jebel Ali regions, among others, reflecting Dubai's commitment to enhancing its coastal offerings.
