A ten-day flood rescue training program for 130 volunteers from Haryana officially began at the historic Brahma Sarovar in Kurukshetra. The initiative aims to equip participants with essential life-saving skills and enhance their disaster response capabilities.
Training Details
The training is being conducted by experts from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). Volunteers will learn techniques such as swimming, boat handling, rope rescue, and first aid. The program also includes theoretical sessions on flood management and emergency communication.
Objectives
The primary goal is to create a skilled volunteer force capable of assisting during flood emergencies. Haryana, which faces recurrent flooding in certain districts, will benefit from having trained personnel ready to respond quickly. The volunteers hail from various districts, ensuring wide coverage across the state.
Community Impact
Local authorities emphasized the importance of community participation in disaster management. The trained volunteers will serve as first responders in their respective areas, bridging the gap until official rescue teams arrive. This initiative is part of a broader state strategy to strengthen disaster preparedness.
The program concludes with a mock drill to test the volunteers' skills. Successful participants will receive certificates recognizing their training.
