Lucknow: Nine fuel stations and an equal number of electric vehicle charging stations, accessible from both sides of the carriageway, are already operational along the Ganga Expressway.
Toll Exemption Period Ending
With the toll exemption period ending on May 14, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has asked the construction companies engaged in collecting toll charges to expedite work on regularising the nine wayside amenities at the earliest. While toilet blocks are already available, the food plazas are yet to come up.
Management of Public Facilities
Officials said the work is on to find a suitable agency that could manage the operations of the public facilities that have been constructed strategically between Meerut and Prayagraj. About 633 advanced cameras are already being handled by the centralised control room, through which emergency services could be availed by reaching out to the 14449 helpline number.
Ride Quality Comparable to European Highways
Having hired the professional services of experts from ETH Zurich, a public university in Switzerland, UPEIDA ensured during the construction of the carriageway that a roughness index ranging between 800 and 1,000 was maintained. “The ride quality of the expressway is equivalent to the experience that one gets on access-controlled highways in developed European cities,” said a senior officer from the authority.
