The Kerala Travel Mart (KTM) is set to return to Kochi in September 2026, drawing over 2,300 buyers from across the globe. Tourism minister P C Vishnunath announced that the event will feature business-to-business meetings, policy-level discussions, and seminars as its key highlights.
Event Details and Scale
Scheduled to be held at the Kochi convention centre, KTM 2026 aims to showcase Kerala's tourism potential and facilitate networking among stakeholders. The number of registered buyers exceeds 2,300, indicating strong international interest. Organisers expect participation from tour operators, hoteliers, and travel agents from over 50 countries.
Minister Vishnunath emphasised that the mart will serve as a platform for forging new partnerships and exploring emerging travel trends. He noted that Kerala's unique offerings—backwaters, hill stations, and Ayurveda—remain major draws for global tourists.
Key Highlights: B2B Meetings and Policy Dialogues
The three-day event will prioritise structured B2B sessions, allowing buyers and sellers to engage in pre-scheduled meetings. Policy-level discussions will address sustainability, infrastructure development, and digital transformation in tourism. Seminars led by industry experts will cover topics such as responsible travel and marketing strategies.
According to the tourism department, KTM has historically contributed significantly to Kerala's tourism revenue. The 2024 edition generated business worth over ₹2,000 crore, and authorities anticipate a similar or higher impact this year.
Government Support and Industry Response
The Kerala government is extending full support to KTM 2026, with the tourism department coordinating logistics and promotional campaigns. Minister Vishnunath stated, "The mart is a vital catalyst for our tourism sector. We are committed to making it a grand success." Industry bodies like the Kerala Travel Mart Society have praised the initiative, highlighting its role in post-pandemic recovery.
Local hotel associations report a surge in bookings for September, with many properties offering special packages for delegates. The event is also expected to boost ancillary sectors such as transport and handicrafts.
