Surat: Western Railway has announced that vehicular movement through the Manisha Garnala underpass near Utran Railway Station will be halted from May 20 as part of bridge expansion work related to the Utran satellite station development project. The closure pertains to Bridge No. 454, commonly known as the Manisha Garnala culvert. Authorities have stated that the underpass will remain closed to road users from May 20 to July 1, prior to the onset of the monsoon season.

Details of the Closure

As part of the Utran satellite station project, Western Railway is undertaking the laying of additional railway lines, expansion of platforms, and upgrading of passenger amenities. The work on both sides of Bridge No. 454 near Utran Railway Station necessitates the temporary stoppage of road traffic beneath the bridge. Anubhav Saxena, Western Railway PRO, explained, “Expansion work is proposed on both sides of Bridge No. 454 near Utran Railway Station, locally known as the Manisha Garnala. Although the public currently uses it as an underpass, it is actually a waterway drain. To ensure the work is completed safely and swiftly, road traffic beneath the bridge will be temporarily stopped.”
