Mudslide Blocks Mughal Road, Stranding Hundreds of Vehicles

Heavy rainfall triggered a mudslide on the Mughal Road near Pir Ki Gali on Monday, blocking a stretch of over half a kilometre and leaving hundreds of vehicles stranded, officials said. The key route connecting the Jammu districts of Rajouri and Poonch with the Kashmir valley's Shopian district has been completely disrupted.

The mudslide occurred due to continuous heavy downpour, bringing traffic to a halt on both sides of the affected stretch. Passenger cars and goods carriers are among the stranded vehicles, according to officials.

Clearance Operations Underway

Road clearance teams and machinery have been deployed to remove the debris and restore traffic flow. Officials advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on the Mughal Road until the debris is cleared and weather conditions improve.
