Clash Erupts Over Firecrackers During Festival Procession in Hangal Taluk

A seemingly minor disagreement over bursting firecrackers spiraled into a violent confrontation in Hangal taluk, Haveri district, Karnataka, on Monday night, leaving at least eight people injured. The incident occurred during the annual full-moon festival procession near the Naregal Gram Panchayat office, according to local police.

The altercation began when Lohith Kurubara, a participant in the procession, lit a cracker in the space between the GP office and a nearby mosque. Khwaja Baashasaab Goundi, who objected to the act, confronted Kurubara, arguing that crackers should not be burst in close proximity to the place of worship. The verbal exchange quickly turned physical when Goundi struck Kurubara with a stick.
