Rajasthan PWD New Bitumen Procurement Rules Amid Crisis

The Public Works Department (PWD) of Rajasthan has issued a fresh directive to procure bitumen in response to the ongoing situation in West Asia, which has led to increased demand and higher prices for the material. The directive was released on Wednesday.

Monthly Provisional Payments Introduced

According to the new guidelines, provisional payments for variations in bitumen prices will now be made on a monthly basis. These provisional payments will later be reconciled with the quarterly price variation calculations. This approach aims to provide financial relief to contractors and ensure smooth project execution.

Extension of Project Timelines

Projects that have been affected by disruptions in bitumen supply may be granted an extension of up to two months without attracting Liquidated Damages (LD). The department will review each case individually and make appropriate decisions. A statement from the Chief Minister's Office confirmed this provision.
