Chikkamagaluru: Koppa in Chikkamagaluru district is set to host the ‘Sarva Samajotsava’ on May 3, an event organized by the Malnad-Karavali Janapara Okkoota with the aim of uniting people from the Malnad and coastal regions.
Event Details and Expected Participation
Thousands of individuals from various political parties, religious backgrounds, and organizations are expected to participate in this significant gathering. Attendees are anticipated from several areas including Sringeri, Narasimharajapura, Koppa, Thirthahalli, Chikkamagaluru, Mudigere, and Shivamogga. The event will feature a vibrant procession through the town of Koppa, designed to promote a powerful message of oneness and harmony among diverse communities.
Vision and Goals of the Organizers
Sudhir Kumar Murolli, the coordinator of the Okkoota, emphasized the core objective of fostering unity and peaceful coexistence. He highlighted the vision of poet-laureate Kuvempu, who dreamed of ‘Sarvajanangada Shanthiya Thota’—a peaceful garden for all religions. Murolli stated, “We cannot grow through fights, hatred, and violence. India must not be built on religious conflicts for political gain.” He stressed the critical importance of preserving unity amid India's rich diversity. Additionally, Murolli announced that approximately 10 resolutions aimed at addressing key issues facing the Malnad region would be passed during the event.
Anil Hosakoppa, another representative of the Okkoota, echoed these sentiments. He expressed deep concern over the rising mindset of hatred and division in society. Hosakoppa highlighted that the Sarva Samajotsava is specifically designed to cultivate a spirit of unity among people, countering divisive tendencies and promoting a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
The event promises to be a landmark occasion for the region, bringing together people from all walks of life to celebrate diversity and reaffirm their commitment to a harmonious society. With its focus on collective progress and communal amity, the Sarva Samajotsava is expected to set a positive example for other regions to follow.
