A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Kasganj district claimed the lives of a couple and their 18-month-old son on Sunday evening. The family was returning home after attending a relative's wedding when a speeding truck mowed down their motorcycle on a bridge in the Kadarganj area.
Details of the Accident
The deceased were identified as Somveer Singh (30), a cab driver operating in Delhi-NCR, his wife Amita (27), and their son Shiva. They were residents of Rampura village in Kasganj's Patiyali area. According to police, the family had attended a wedding at Amita's maternal relatives' village in Rajlamau, located in neighboring Badaun district. Around 7 pm, as they reached the Kadarganj Ganga bridge in the Sikandarpur Vaishya area, a speeding truck rammed into their bike, killing all three instantly.
Police Response and Investigation
Sikandarpur Vaish Station House Officer (SHO) Ajayveer Singh confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. Nayab Tehsildar Mukesh Kumar stated that the bodies were handed over to the family after postmortem examination. Kasganj Superintendent of Police (SP) OP Singh said, “A case will be registered after police receive a written complaint.”
The incident has left the local community in shock. Authorities are investigating the matter and are expected to take action against the absconding driver. This tragedy highlights the dangers posed by reckless driving on highways and bridges in the region.
