The Uttar Pradesh government is set to highlight the state's mango diversity at a three-day mango festival in Lucknow, scheduled from July 3 to July 5 at the Indira Gandhi Pratishthan. The event aims to secure national and international recognition for the state's renowned mango varieties.
International Buyer-Seller Meet
As part of the festival, an international buyer-seller meet will be organized on July 4 at Jan Bhawan in Lucknow. This initiative is expected to open new avenues for mango exports and trade.
Dinesh Pratap Singh, Minister of State for Horticulture, Agricultural Marketing, Agricultural Foreign Trade, and Agricultural Export, emphasized the festival's significance. He stated, "The mango festival will provide a new direction to the state's horticulture and agricultural economy." He added that the government is continuously working to boost mango production, processing, and exports.
Participation and Exhibits
The event will see participation from progressive orchardists, exporters, agricultural experts, and entrepreneurs from across the country, including Uttar Pradesh. Hundreds of unique and rare mango varieties will be on display, such as Dussehri, Langra, Chausa, Amrapali, Rataul, and Lucknow Safeda, along with colored and rare varieties. Additionally, mango-based processed products, value-addition techniques, and export prospects will be showcased.
Competitions under various categories will also be held during the festival. Uttar Pradesh is the largest producer of mangoes in India, and this event aims to further strengthen its position in the global market.
