The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather forecast indicating a notable decline in temperatures for Ahmedabad and surrounding regions of Gujarat. According to the latest update released on Tuesday, residents should prepare for a cooler Wednesday as the minimum temperature is expected to drop significantly.
Temperature Trends and Predictions
On Tuesday, Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 17.2°C, which was 4.4 degrees higher than the normal range for this time of year. However, the IMD predicts a sharp fall to around 14 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, marking a drop of over 3 degrees. In contrast, the maximum temperature on Tuesday was 28.6°C, slightly lower than normal by 0.1 degree.
Synoptic Conditions Influencing the Weather
The meteorological analysis points to several atmospheric factors contributing to this temperature shift. A trough extends from the northeast Arabian Sea to north Punjab, passing across Saurashtra and Kutch, as well as West Rajasthan. Additionally, a cyclonic circulation is present over southwest Rajasthan, coupled with a Western Disturbance. These systems are likely to drive the cooling effect across the state.
Statewide Forecast and Temperature Patterns
The IMD's state forecast anticipates a fall in minimum temperatures by 3-5 degrees over the next 24 hours, followed by a gradual rise of 2-4 degrees in the subsequent three days. After this period, no major changes are expected, suggesting a stabilization in weather conditions. This pattern highlights the dynamic nature of Gujarat's climate during this season.
Regional Temperature Variations
Across Gujarat, several locations have already experienced cooler minimum temperatures. Naliya recorded the lowest at 9.4°C, dipping below the 10-degree mark. Other areas include Bhuj at 11°C, Rajkot at 11.4°C, Kandla at 11.6°C, and Keshod at 11.9°C. These readings underscore the widespread impact of the current weather systems, with Ahmedabad poised to join this cooler trend.
As the IMD continues to monitor the situation, residents are advised to stay updated on further forecasts and take necessary precautions for the changing temperatures. This weather shift serves as a reminder of the seasonal transitions typical in the region, affecting daily life and activities.
