Cashless Health Facility of Rs 5 Lakh Announced for Loktantra Senanis
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced a cashless health facility of Rs 5 lakh per year for Loktantra Senanis, along with arrangements for their last rites with full state honors. The announcement was made at an event honoring the veterans who fought for democracy during the Emergency period.
Arrangements for Last Rites with Full State Honors
CM Yogi stated that the state government will ensure that the last rites of Loktantra Senanis are conducted with full state honors, recognizing their contributions to the nation. He emphasized that honoring these individuals is a matter of pride for the government and the people of Uttar Pradesh.
Loktantra Senanis Recount Their Ordeal
During the event, several Loktantra Senanis shared their harrowing experiences from the Emergency era. One veteran recounted how authorities pulled out his nails while he was in jail, while another described being forced to undergo sterilization. These testimonies highlighted the severe repression faced by those who opposed the Emergency imposed in 1975.
Government's Commitment to Their Welfare
The CM reiterated the state's commitment to the welfare of Loktantra Senanis, stating that the health scheme and funeral honors are just the beginning of broader support measures. He added that the sacrifices of these individuals should never be forgotten and that the younger generation must learn from their courage.
