Goa Records Cooler Nights, IMD Predicts Temperature Rise Soon
Goa's Minimum Temperatures Dip, Dry Weather to Continue

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported that dry weather conditions continue to dominate across Goa, accompanied by a significant drop in night-time temperatures at several key locations. This marks a noticeable shift towards cooler evenings in the coastal state.

Temperature Details Across Key Locations

On Thursday, the weather data revealed distinct temperature variations. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Dabolim, which dipped to 17.4 degrees Celsius. In contrast, Panaji experienced the highest maximum temperature, reaching 31.4 degrees Celsius. This represented a cooler night compared to the previous day, when minimums were higher at 19 degrees Celsius in Panaji and 19.2 degrees in Mormugao.

Observational data from January 2 provided further insight. Panaji reported a maximum temperature of 30.6 degrees Celsius at 5:30 PM, which was notably 1.8 degrees below the normal level for this time. Mormugao recorded 31.2 degrees Celsius at 8:30 AM, 0.8 degrees below normal. For minimum temperatures, Panaji was near normal at 20.4 degrees (marginally higher by 0.2 degrees), while Mormugao was slightly cooler at 20 degrees, registering 1.6 degrees below normal.

IMD Forecast and Advisory for Goa

Despite the recent cooling trend, the IMD has forecast a change. The weather office predicts a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 1 to 2 degrees Celsius over the next three to four days. However, dry weather is likely to prevail across the state until at least January 8.

The IMD has also issued a warning for residents, indicating the possibility of shallow to moderate haze or mist at isolated places during the early morning hours over the same period. The overall advisory suggests that people should expect continued dry conditions paired with cool mornings in the days ahead.

What This Means for Residents

The current weather pattern brings relief from humidity but necessitates preparedness for cooler starts to the day. The predicted haze in the mornings could impact visibility for commuters. The IMD's forecast of rising temperatures later in the week indicates a temporary phase of cooler nights before a return to more typical minimums for the season.
