Gurgaon Sees Light Rainfall, Temperature Dips as Western Disturbance Influences Weather
Gurgaon Light Rainfall, Temperature Drop Amid Western Disturbance

Gurgaon Witnesses Scattered Showers and Temperature Fluctuations

On Sunday, Gurgaon reported light and uneven rainfall across various parts of the city, leading to a noticeable drop in daytime temperatures. According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature decreased to 27.4°C from 33.2°C recorded on Saturday. In contrast, the minimum temperature saw a slight increase, rising to 18.1°C from 17.5°C on the previous day.

Rainfall Distribution Across the District

The district recorded a total of 3mm of rainfall, marking the highest amount during this period. Specific areas such as Kadipur and Harsaru each received 2mm of precipitation. However, other regions including Sohna, Manesar, and Pataudi experienced only light drizzle with no measurable rainfall, while Farrukhnagar reported no rainfall at all.

Officials described the showers as scattered and short-lived, with rainfall concentrated in isolated pockets. Central parts of the district and nearby areas recorded measurable precipitation, whereas southern and western areas largely encountered brief drizzle without significant accumulation.

Weather Patterns and Forecasts

The light showers coincided with a western disturbance influencing weather conditions over north India. The IMD has issued a forecast predicting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds of 30-40kmph in parts of Haryana on March 16, under the influence of this western disturbance.

Similar weather conditions, including thunderstorms and gusty winds, are also anticipated on March 19 and March 20, according to the IMD. Meteorologists noted that such patchy rainfall and thunderstorm activity are common during the seasonal transition period in March, when western disturbances often trigger isolated showers across the region.

This weather pattern highlights the typical variability experienced during early spring, with temperature shifts and localized precipitation affecting daily life in Gurgaon and surrounding areas.
