Lucknow Experiences Unseasonably Warm Weather Conditions
The state capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, witnessed unusually warm weather on Thursday, with both daytime and nighttime temperatures soaring above normal levels. According to meteorological reports, this unexpected rise in mercury is attributed to a western disturbance affecting the hill regions of the country.
Impact of Western Disturbance on Weather Patterns
The western disturbance led to cloudy skies and light rainfall in several parts of western and central Uttar Pradesh. In the eastern regions, overcast conditions during the night prevented heat from escaping the ground, resulting in elevated minimum temperatures. However, by morning, the skies cleared, allowing bright sunshine to push maximum temperatures even higher.
In Lucknow, specific temperature readings highlighted the anomaly. The maximum temperature reached 29.5 degrees Celsius, which is 2.7 units above the normal range. Similarly, the minimum temperature was recorded at 16.8 degrees Celsius, marking a significant increase of 5.5 notches above normal. Additional weather parameters included:
- Surface winds blowing at 10–15 kmph
- Relative humidity fluctuating between 75% (maximum) and 34% (minimum)
Expert Insights and Future Forecast
Senior scientist Mohammad Danish from the state meteorological department explained the situation. "The sky became clear in the morning because the western disturbance fizzled out. Now, minimum temperatures are expected to fall by 2–4 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours in the city," he stated. This forecast indicates a return to normal temperature levels in the coming days, providing relief from the recent warmth.
The temporary weather shift serves as a reminder of how regional climatic phenomena, such as western disturbances, can influence local conditions, leading to notable variations in temperature and humidity across Uttar Pradesh.
