A tragic road accident occurred on the Jhansi-Lalitpur highway near Babina on Friday, leaving at least 26 passengers injured. Among them, nine individuals sustained critical injuries after a private bus traveling at high speed collided with a container truck.
Details of the Incident
According to eyewitnesses, the accident took place when the bus driver attempted to overtake the container vehicle. The forceful impact caused the container to partially overturn, blocking the highway for several hours. Traffic was disrupted as authorities worked to clear the scene.
Rescue and Medical Response
Local residents and police personnel promptly initiated rescue operations. The injured were rushed to a nearby community health centre for primary treatment. Later, nine critically injured passengers were referred to Jhansi Medical College for advanced medical care.
Legal Action
Circle officer (Sadar) Priya Singh confirmed that the bus driver has been arrested and booked for negligent driving. An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
