Dehydrated Shaheen Falcon Rescued in Mumbai

In the ongoing hot weather conditions, a severely dehydrated Shaheen Falcon, a subspecies of the Peregrine Falcon and one of the fastest birds in the world, was rescued from Mulund on Tuesday by the Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW). The bird was found in a residential area on the outskirts of Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), under the jurisdiction of the Mumbai Range of the Thane Territorial Wing of the Forest Department.

Advisory for Heatwave

Pawan Sharma of RAWW advised, "Many birds, including large falcons and eagles, can suffer due to extreme summer heat waves. Hence, it is advisable for housing societies to keep water bowls on their terraces so that various bird species can access water and stay hydrated."

This incident highlights the impact of heatwaves on urban wildlife and the importance of community action in conservation.
